How many drams are in a bottle?

There is no universal dram size. This calculator treats a dram as the pour size you choose and reports full measures plus the amount left in the bottle.

Choose a bottle size and pour size.

Why pour size matters

A 700 ml bottle provides 28 full 25 ml measures, but only 23 full 30 ml measures, with 10 ml remaining. Home pours often vary, so measuring is more reliable than judging by eye when you are planning a structured tasting.

Planning a tasting

For multi-whisky flights, smaller pours can make it easier to compare several samples while keeping the total volume controlled. Count the total amount of pure alcohol as well as the number of glasses, because a higher-ABV whisky contains more alcohol in the same serving volume.
