Preference quiz

Which Scotch region matches your preferences?

This quiz uses broad historical and flavour associations to suggest a region for further exploration. It does not predict that every whisky from that region will suit you. Distilleries in the same region can differ substantially in peat use, fermentation, distillation and maturation.

1. Which direction sounds most appealing?
2. How do you feel about peat smoke?
3. Which fruit profile interests you most?
4. Which tasting experience sounds most interesting?
5. What would you most like to explore next?
Answer all five questions to see the result.

How the result is calculated

Each answer adds one point to the region associated with that preference. The region with the highest score appears first. If two regions tie, the result shows both rather than pretending the quiz can distinguish between equal scores. The method is intentionally simple and visible.

Why a region result has limits

The five Scotch whisky regions are useful geographic and historical categories, but they do not function as recipes. Islay includes heavily peated whisky and comparatively lightly peated or unpeated expressions. Highland covers a particularly broad geographic area and range of styles. A bottle-level recommendation should therefore use the Find Your Next Scotch tool rather than this quiz.
