Print a structured Scotch tasting sheet

This sheet gives each sample enough space for independent observations. Use it for a labelled tasting, or leave the identity blank until the reveal in a blind comparison.

What to record before you begin

Write down the sample identity if the tasting is open. In a blind tasting, use a neutral sample code instead. Record ABV and any water added because those details can help explain why a later tasting of the same whisky seems different.

Why there is no mandatory score

A numerical score can be useful for your own records, but it can also collapse several observations into one number. The sheet gives more space to descriptors, intensity and finish so the record still makes sense months later even if your scoring habits change.
